We’re looking for a few volunteers to help us personally thank our generous donors for their support. A quick phone call can make a meaningful impact and let our supporters know how much they are appreciated. Deliver food boxes to senior client homes throughout Licking County. Must be able to drive and have own reliable transportation. Pick up the boxes at 1031 Brice St, Newark Ohio at our CSS Licking Office and then deliver to assigned client homes. Addresses provided from worker on site. You will work with staff on site to schedule times and get more information on delivery prior to. This is usually one day a month around the 4th week of every month and about 2-3 hours of time depending on how many boxes you are delivering. The client will need to answer the door for delivery so they can confirm receipt. Any undelivered boxes can be brought back to the office with coordination of on site staff. 

On the 3rd Tuesday of each month, residents at Seton Washington Court House have the opportunity to pick up a box of non-perishable food items from Fayette County Commission on Aging. Some residents are able to do this while others do not have transportation or the strength to get a 25 pound box to their apartment.  One or two volunteers are needed to pick up about 5 boxes at 1179 South Elm St., WCH anywhere between XXXXXX and XXXX. The boxes would be driven to Seton WCH at 400 N. Glenn Ave. and delivered to resident apartments. A point of contact will let you in the building. Each volunteer will become a "proxy" by sharing their name and phone number and agreeing to get the food box to the designated resident. 

LOADING/UNLOADING AND STOCKING

Unloading, shelve stocking.

Remove all food from shelves disposing of any expired food, clean all shelves and refrigerators, clean common areas, clean windows, sort donations, assist with clerical needs.

General Duties:

Requirements:

Goal: Gather a group of 10-15 volunteers to create 200 Senior Laundry Kits, OR 200 Snack Packs for Youth OR 200 Hygiene kits to support our community experiencing homelessness.   

Each pack will have anywhere from 5-10 items inside each kit.  Items will go inside a Gallon Size Ziploc Bag. Once items are packed Catholic Social Services will work with our community partners to donate the kits to support families, youth, senior, people living with disabilities and those experiencing homelessness.

This volunteer opportunity follows our motto that we never do this work alone and that this is truly one small way to put your Faith into Action!

Volunteer Roles Include but not limited to:

Set Up-

·         Create a single file line (with tables) for all above items

·         Tape down Signs for each item (Laminated Signs for each item)

·         1-2 people stationed at each item (more people may be needed where items need to be counted and placed inside a quart size Ziploc bag)

Quality Control-

·         Confirm all items are in each bag

·         Confirm that there are 12- 20 Kits in each box  

Box Duty-

·         Create Boxes

·         Seal Each Box

·         Label Each box with the number of Kits in each box using the signs provided

Tear Down-

·         Break down tables

·         Take final inventory of completed boxes and how many are in each box

·         Organize boxes in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Volunteer Center  

·         Store excess inventory in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Center Volunteer Center

·         Break down boxes from inventory used to create kits

·         Wipe down tables and put away tables in the Volunteer Center

·         Take out recycling to recycling bins

·         Take out trash to trash cans

·         Any other clean up as assigned

Please dress comfortably and wear closed toe shoes, this volunteer opportunity will take place in the warehouse/ volunteer center.

The items that are most needed by the pantry are: 

Dry Goods: Rice (1lb bag), Dry Beans (1lb bag black or pinto), Cooking Oil, Sugar, Salt, Spaghetti 

Canned Goods: Tuna in water, Vegetables, Fruits, Tomato Sauce, Condensed Milk, Evaporated Milk 

Personal Care Items: Detergent (dishwashing/laundry), Bar Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Cleaning Supplies

Once your food or hygiene drive is completed we ask that you bag or box up the items collected and deliver them to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Center located at 3631 Soldano Blvd., Columbus, OH  43228. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays are preferred days to drop off items between 9am and 4pm.

Host a birthday celebration honoring residents celebrating a birthday in a given month. Provide refreshments and entertainment for residents who attend. Engage a diverse group of people to bring joy and unity to the community. 7:00-8:30 pm on the first Monday of the month.

Seniors living at Seton Lancaster need one-on-one assistance to trouble shoot use of their personal cell phone. Meet in the community room once or twice a month on Monday or Wednesday between the hours of 8:30 - 4:30 (you pick) with one or a few residents to fix their issue. Service Coordinator is onsite to offer support.
